Welcome back to the start of the Spring 2018 term.  This may be the shortest term of the year, but that won’t stop us from planning a few opportunities to get us all together.  We have also been listening to the requests and suggestions we have been receiving from both parents and pupils alike.

This update includes information on Meet & Greet Coffee Mornings, the annual Quiz & Chilli Night, the new Prep School Reps, the Second Hand Shop, the Parents Directory and Committee vacancies. Please read on for more details.

WSPA Meet & Greet In response to a request for a greater presence whereby parents have the opportunity to learn more about the WSPA and its role within the school, Mr Titley, Head of Prep School, has kindly invited us to join him at a couple of his regular meet and greet coffee mornings.  There are currently two planned for this term, please drop in if you can:

  • Thursday, 25 January, 8:30 – 9:30, Prep School Hall
  • Tuesday, 06 March, 8:30 – 9:30, Prep school Hall

Quiz & Chilli Night, Friday 23 February 19:00 – 23:00, TA Hall, Senior School – The WSPA will be hosting its annual Quiz & Chilli Night! If you think you can outwit our in-house quizmaster, Mr Jeremy Robertson, put together your team and join us for a lively evening of demonstrating your intellectual prowess and outwitting your friends! Cash prizes for winning team and runners up. Spot prizes throughout the evening.  Enter a team of between 4 and 6 people for just £10 per head which includes a Mexican supper.  Wine Bar with beer, wine and soft drinks. Please contact Stella Aldridge with your team name and any dietary requirements.

WSPA Prep Reps Following on from another request, the WSPA is thrilled to have two of our active members readily available to answers any of your questions, enlighten you with the details of upcoming events and activities information and hopefully lure you into joining in the fun. If you can’t find them, please ask Ms D-D in reception and she’ll point you in the right direction.

Melissa Gairdner (Phoebe Year 1, Freddie Year 3)

Michelle Kjolner (Magne Year 4, Martin Year 6)

WSPA Second Hand Shop – By very popular demand, we plan to extend the shop opening hours to include two Saturdays per month, namely the first and third, 09:00 – 11:00, starting after the February Half Term. We hope this provides parents with much easier access to both drop in those outgrown items and pick up some new ones at the same time.

Parents Directory – The on-line Parents Directory was created a few years ago by one of our Parent Members with the intention of supporting one another from the School community in areas outside of school.  If you would like to advertise your business/skills/expertise or are looking for something that needs doing – try the directory and support your fellow parents at the same time.

WSPA Committee vacancies With the departure of the Backwell-Woodroffe Family (Harry Year 4, Josh Year 6) back to Australia, Ms Woodroffe has left both our hearts and our committee with a vacancy (we actually have a few).  The next committee meeting will be held on Monday, 26 February, 19:00 – 20:00(ish) Senior School, Room H7.

All are welcome to attend and throw your hat into the ring of fun if you would like to join the Committee. Remember, even if you do not wish to be a full committee member or can only occasionally assist with our events, all are still welcome – this is a relaxed group whose aim is to provide the pupils with that little bit extra whilst enjoying ourselves at the same time.

As always, if you have any queries or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to pop into the School Shop (Mon 8:30-9:30, Wed 15:45-17:15, Fri 13:00-14:00) or send us an email.  Keep your ideas coming as it only makes us better.

Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you all very soon.
