WEST WILTSHIRE SCHOOLS BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

Just prior to the Christmas break, the atmosphere was electric at Melksham Community Campus as three teams from Warminster School took to the courts for the highly anticipated West Wiltshire Schools Badminton Tournament. With fierce competition from five other schools, our talented athletes showcased their skills in both singles and doubles matches, delivering an inspiring display of sportsmanship and teamwork.
Our Year 8 boys’ team, composed of players who were relatively new to competitive badminton, faced some of the strongest teams in the region. Despite their inexperience, they demonstrated resilience and determination throughout their matches, gaining invaluable experience that will no doubt serve them well in future tournaments. Their commendable performance laid the groundwork for their continued development in the sport.
Similarly, the Year 10 boys’ team also entered the tournament with limited competitive experience, but they rose to the occasion with impressive spirit. Despite the challenges they faced, they played exceptionally well and secured a respectable third place out of six teams in their competition. This achievement reflects their hard work and dedication to improving their badminton skills.
The star performers of the day were undoubtedly our Year 9 girls’ team, who played with remarkable skill and confidence. They dominated their competition, winning all five of their matches and finishing in first place. Their outstanding achievement has earned them a coveted spot in the County tournament scheduled for February.
**Congratulations to the winning girls team:**

To mark their impressive victory, the girls were honoured in this week’s assembly, where they received the tournament trophy from the Headmaster. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork were celebrated by the entire school community. We can’t wait to watch them take their talents to the County tournament in February!
