AN AUDIENCE WITH GAVIN MORTIMER

We are delighted to announce that writer and historian, Gavin Mortimer, will join us as part of the Thomas Arnold Lecture series on Thursday 21 March.

Gavin, who lives in Paris, is a writer and historian whose books have been published on both sides of the Atlantic.  The Great Swim, about the first woman to swim the English Channel, was adapted as an afternoon play for BBC Radio 4 and the film rights have been optioned to Hollywood. He has worked as a consultant for numerous BBC and Channel 4 documentaries, including the three-part BBC2 documentary on the origins of the SAS, presented by Ben Macintyre in 2017. He has also written histories of the SBS, Long Range Desert Group and the London Blitz.

Gavin is a regular contributor to newspapers, magazine and websites, and is the Spectator's correspondent in France, where there is never a dull moment since Emmanuel Macron came to power.

Gavin will talk about his career and also the process of researching and writing Through The Wren Door and will provide a sneak preview prior to its launch.

The lecture will conclude with a Q&A session, time to meet Gavin and post-lecture discussions over drinks and canapés.
