THE ARTIST’S STUDIO EXHIBITION

THE ARTIST’S STUDIO EXHIBITION

We were thrilled that our Sixth Form Art and Photography pupils were given the opportunity to take part in The Artist’s Studio Exhibition,  which involved using the resources of the Young Collection  with the intention of kick-starting research and discussion about the work and life of an artist.  Peter Riley, the curator of the Young Gallery visited the Art Department in September with original work by Henry Moore and Peter Randall Page as the starting point for this project.

The shapes, textures and patterns found in natural forms provided Sixth Form pupils with a wealth of sources to create photographs and mixed media work, which may have been used in the studio as inspiration for these artists.

Pupils experimented with different drawing materials and photography to explore a range of possibilities – to create exciting, fast and slow drawing, detailed as well as expressive responses, abstract and realist pieces.

Pupils work can be viewed at the Young Gallery, Salisbury from the 6-27 February.
