TAG RUGBY FESTIVAL

TAG RUGBY FESTIVAL

70 children braved the weather at Warminster Prep School to take part in a mixed TAG Rugby Festival.  Four pitches were marked out in blue paint, which later appeared on many faces and knees.  Seven schools attended the Festival, each bringing 10 children. Warminster Prep, Chapmanslade, The Manor, Bitham Brook, Minster, St John’s Trowbridge and St George’s.

Players were divided into four groups, and moved around the pitches to take part in different skills and fun games.  They played ‘rob the nest’ , a safe version of ‘bulldog’  and learnt all the backward passing skills and 2 v 1 tactics.  Each child ran approximately two miles during the afternoon! Following skill practice the children played half an hour of matches.  There was much laughter, try scoring moments and a little screaming from a few!

The day was finished with cake, drink and clapping for teachers, parents and children. Mrs Butterworth, Head of Prep Sport at Warminster commented “It was a pleasure to host the afternoon and a definite in the calendar for next year.  A big welcome to Bitham Brook and The Manor School, who came to us for the first time. Well done to all the children, who seemed to enjoy the mud, games and cold!”
