SPOTLIGHT – CATHY HUMPHERSON (MRS BOB)

SPOTLIGHT – CATHY HUMPHERSON (MRS BOB)

The spotlight turns to Cathy Humpherson (AKA Mrs Bob), our cake-baking, efficient and much-loved Matron.

Cathy has been a Matron at Warminster for 8 years, starting in Northdown and successfully opening Ivy House last September. She regularly supports and helps the WSPA Committee and can be relied upon when an extra pair of hands are needed! Cathy has lived in Warminster for 17 years and is married to Nick, with 2 grown up children. Her son and daughter both live in London and were involved with working for the Rugby World Cup. Cathy loves her garden, grows vegetables and flowers and also loves to travel. We are able to admire her amazing floristry skills around School on Open Days and at special events.

How long have you worked at Warminster?

16 years.

What’s the best thing about your role?

The variety.

Describe a typical day?

No such thing as a typical day in a boarding house. One minute I can be mopping up tears, the next dealing with travel arrangements, laundry or baking cakes!

What do you think makes Warminster a special place to live and learn?

The caring and friendly staff who are always willing to help.

What would surprise us about you?

My name is not Mrs Bob.  A number of years ago I was introduced to a pupil who thought he would never be able to say Mrs Humpherson so asked if he could call me 'Bob'. I replied and said 'No, but you can call me Mrs Bob' and the rest is history.

I have also lived in 18 different homes in 32 years!

As a child what did you want to be when you grew up?

A florist.

What did your school reports say?

Try to spend less time reading and more time on academic work. Become more involved with sports that you obviously don’t like.

Inefficiency.
