SPORTS ROUNDUP

The latest Sports Roundup from Mr Lyons.

Our cricket teams certainly have been making hay whilst the sun final shone this last week.  Last Thursday our girls and boys 1st XIs were both in action.  I had the pleasure of umpiring the girls 1st XI playing on the county pitch away at Wells.  The girls fielded brilliantly and following some powerful batting, Sarah T hit the match winning boundary with a few overs to spare.  At the same time, news of the boys securing a 1st XI double on the same day!

On Saturday our junior and intermediate girls had some excellent tennis fixtures with Prior Park with the day at Warminster being topped off with the senior boys producing ‘the best school tennis’ Fran had ever seen, in a tense victory over Kingswood.

I made multiple trips up and down the A36 on Saturday afternoon shuttling cricket teams to their fixtures at Monkton Combe, and each time I arrived back at Monkton, Cam S-N was still in bat!  He ended on 130* to help the 1st XI to their second victory in 3 days.  Barnaby C-S and Ben C both also deserve huge credit for racing up to Bath after their tennis fixture to contribute to a solid victory.

We enjoyed a wonderful Cricket Sixes event at Cold Harbour on Sunday, with huge thanks to Laura Gibson for organising such a great OV event.  Mr Loud duly brought the team of 1st XI boys back down to earth, clinching a famous victory.

Our final fixture weekend of the academic year sees the Junior cricket teams travel to Monkton Combe and the intermediate and seniors to Dorset to take on Bryanston.
