Sports round-up – 6th September 2014

Warminster was blessed with sunshine for the first weekend of term. Training sessions were held in the morning at both the Prep and Senior schools for rugby and hockey. There was an excellent turnout for these and lots of optimism for next weekend's games.

In the afternoon, the Senior School girls’ hockey teams played in a triangular event against Monkton Combe and Downside School. The Under 14 and Under 15 teams began their respective seasons with solid wins against Downside School (3-1 and 1-0) but both lost narrowly to Monkton Combe. In their match against Downside, the 1st XI were unfortunate to concede a late penalty corner which was converted for a 3-3 draw. They also just missed out against Monkton Combe, losing 1-0.

The 1st XV Rugby Team had a disappointing game against a strong and powerful Wells Cathedral side but will be looking to bounce back with a good performance against Canford School next weekend.
