The latest Sports Roundup from Mr Lyons.

Last Thursday the boy’s 1st XI hockey team hosted Katherine Lady Berkley School in the England hockey cup.  They came out on top of what was a tight game with a 2-1 win and a trip to King’s Bruton in the next round.

I had not expected to see snow on the 2nd day of spring on Saturday morning!  But this unfortunately meant a cancellation of some of our early morning fixtures.  The afternoon proved much more spring like as we enjoyed hockey and netball fixtures with Wells and Embley.

Midweek sporting action continues to come thick and fast!  On Monday the 1st XI had another cup fixture, another very tight game, and another victory. They are certainly keeping Mr Jones and Mr Evans busy and will face either Bristol Grammar or Millfield in the later stages of the competition.

On Wednesday our U12 and U13 girls enjoyed netball fixtures with Downside.  The Year 7 girls have shown great commitment to improving and were rewarded with a victory in a strong team performance.

Also, on Wednesday it was the turn of the U15 boys who were in cup action with Reigate Grammar after school on the astro.  They came up against skilful opposition from Reigate, who left with the victory and a place in the next round.

This afternoon (Thursday as I write) the 1st XI football team play their first fixture for several weeks having been hampered by the recent wet weather.  The U13 hockey team are at Millfield in the West finals, the 1st XI boy’s hockey team travel to Bruton for the next round of the England Hockey Cup and the senior girls enjoy their house netball competition.

Friday sees the U14 boys play their second rugby sevens festival of the season as they prepare for Roslyn Park in the final week of term, and we look forward to hockey and netball fixtures with Prior Park and Downside on Saturday to wrap up an action-packed week!
