SMOKE GETS IN YOUR EYES
A frosty evening was the perfect setting for the first formal recital evening of the year.
The Music Scholars appeared in the dimmed light of the Thomas Arnold Hall, resplendent in their evening suits and gowns. The variety on display was superb, from Year 7 pupils Alex and William playing the French horn and piano respectively, to Soprano Year 13 pupils, Emma and Maisie and saxophonists Xander and Ben. Classical greats from Shostakovichs’ Valse performed on the viola by Maisie and Dvoraks haunting romantic piece performed by Izzy on the violin added a reflective tone to the proceedings. Matthew’s beautiful rendition of Smoke gets in your eyes on the trombone rounded off a sophisticated and stylish evening, topped off with sparkling Prosecco and canapés for good measure. Congratulations to all the performers.
