SMASHING IT!
For the fourth consecutive season WS SMASHERS 1, have won the Moonraker Wiltshire Netball League and been promoted into the premier division. This is the top league within one of three club leagues Wiltshire run, the next stage is into the Regional leagues.
I have been so impressed with the number of pupils who have wanted to be involved this year, showing great commitment to improving and developing their netball skills. We also have some parents, staff, Old Verlucians and friends involved in the two squads. WS1 only lost one match all season, their first defeat in two years. Some impressive play from Mrs Bell led her to receive player of the match by her opposition on six occasions.
WS2 were a young squad this season, the youngest player being Lottie Craven-Smith. The team were led by Miss Sen who had a great season. Poppy Helm was outstanding in defence and was my player of the year.
I am very excited to see netball go from strength to strength and the girls showing real commitment to the sport. I am hugely grateful to all the support from parents and staff. A special mention to Mrs Bell and Miss Sen who have been a huge support, without them I would not have been able to run both squads.
