ROSES ARE RED

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
The Reverlucian Band was cool,
And the DJ was too!
The Sixth Form Social Committee certainly did their fellow sixth formers proud when they pulled out all the stops for their Valentine’s Ball last week. With the romantic red theme, heart shaped helium balloons, rose petals, guests dressed in red and the obligatory Love Heart Sweets, the scene was set for a night of enjoyment following so many cancelled and postponed events.
Warminster’s Catering Team supplied a wonderful buffet supper, with the added extra of heart shaped brownies, then, it was time to hit the dance floor with sixth form band, Reverlucian, followed by a superb DJ set that kept the dancefloor filled till late.
Gillian Walmsley, Head of Sixth Form, said, “It's been 2 years since the Thomas Arnold Hall was filled with Sixth Form pupils dressed in their finery. Embracing the new normal of negative lateral flow tests on entry, the pupils made the most of their first black tie social event. With their band “Reverlucian” kicking off the music, the atmosphere was electric – staff and pupils taking to the dance floor made an amusing sight. As Head of Sixth Form it was quite an emotional evening watching my pupils be “normal young people again” gone were the masks and regimented seating plans, leaving young people to simply have a great night making memories with their friends”.
Delilah, from Reverlucian said, “It was an amazing night with a great audience that never stopped dancing and singing along – one of the best gigs we’ve ever played!”
Sixth Form Social Chair, Immie added, “Following last term's successful Halloween Party, Bingo Night and outdoor Cinema event, the Valentine Ball was certainly a highlight for the Committee to add to our social mix. It makes all the hard work worthwhile seeing everyone enjoying themselves and enourages us to come up with new ideas ensuring our socials prove a hit with the Sixth Form. Thank you to everyone for supporting, enjoing and buying tickets – we will see you at our next event!”
Headmaster, Matt Williams also commented, “With two years of cancellations and restrictions, it was immensely moving to see our Sixth Form finally let their hair down tonight and enjoy themselves”.
Many thanks to the Catering and Maintenance Teams for their assistance, Jon Edkins for the amazing photo booth, Mrs Walmsley and the Sixth Form Social Committee for organising such a great event.
