Rocket Car Challenge

Rocket Car Challenge

Three pupils from Warminster Prep School were selected by The Bloodhound Project, Britain's latest bid to achieve the land speed record, to take part in a Rocket Car Challenge at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

The rocket cars were made out of Styrofoam and were propelled down a 46 metre course by a small charge placed in the rear of the vehicle. Pupils had to design and craft the vehicles themselves to create the most streamlined shape. The Warminster car, designed byJoe Martin, James Bailey and Harrison Kilminster, managed to cover the distance in 1.707 seconds which is an average of over 60 miles per hour!

After the challenge, the pupils were able to explore this unique event and witness some exotic machinery driving up the famous hillclimb track.
