RIDING TO SUCCESS

RIDING TO SUCCESS

Congratulations to Eugenie Godfrey-Faussett who has qualified for the Longines International Horse Show.

Year 3 pupil, Janey (Eugenie) has two ponies on which she competes nationwide. The winner of each class qualifies for The Longines Royal International Horse Show,  which is held at the All England Jumping Course in East Sussex in July.  There are 10+ competitors in each qualifying class, and therefore, it is not easy to qualify.

As one of the biggest outdoor shows in the country, the Longines Royal International Horse Show sees the elite of many equestrian disciplines compete side by side. It has everything from the thrills and spills of international showjumping to the elegance and glamour of champion showing horses and ponies, to the exhilarating buzz of the country's best scurry ponies to event riders galloping across-country.

Janey has managed to qualify both of her ponies, Lolli and Sooty  – for a total of 4 classes at this year's final. She will be competing on Wednesday 27th July on Lolli  (show name Gryngallt Picture Frame) and will be the youngest competitor in her class. On Sunday the 2nd August, she will be riding Sooty (Woodroyd Celebration) in the Lead Rein and First Ridden show pony classes. Last year she competed with Lolli  winning 2nd place overall in a final of over 35 ponies.

Next month, Janey will also start competing in the qualifiers to compete at the prestigious Horse of the Year Show  at the NEC in October. Prep Headmaster, David Edwards, wished Janey the best of luck “We all wish Janey the very best of luck. She has qualified and competed over the last 3 years so here at the Prep School we are keeping everything crossed for her!”
