1707 RADIO

Can you believe your ears? We have our own radio station – 1707 Radio.
1707 Radio is a new exciting addition to our creative arts co-curricular portfolio and all pupils from Warminster will have the opportunity to get involved.
1707 Radio is an internet based radio station and listeners can tune in worldwide (great for our international boarding parents) 24 hours a day by accessing www.1707radio.co.uk and click 'listen now' or by simply searching our radio player 1707radio.live.
During our Greenzone sessions, pupils who have opted for Warminster School Broadcasting Company (WSBC) have a choice of TV/film, radio or newspaper/magazine, giving our pupils first-hand experience of the world of media and communication. The radio station is currently only streaming music however, pupils will soon be working on their radio voices, presentation and interviewing skills as they move to the exciting stage of producing and voicing various shows throughout the day. Using the latest technology, pupils will be able to pre-record shows as well as 'go live' as their confidence improves.
Nicola Rogers, Assistant Head (Pupil Development) commented on the project, “this is such a fantastic opportunity for our pupils. They will learn exciting new skills and further develop their confidence. I look forward to hearing them when we are live on air! I am grateful to Gill Walmsley and Jeremy Robertson for driving this forward for our pupils”.
We would like to thank the WSPA for funding this ambitious project and also parent, JP King, Hugo King and Indico Media for their hours of support in getting us this far! There will be more exciting updates to follow as we plan to launch our full service on 9th December 2019, in time for the much coveted Christmas No 1!
