PREP SPRING SHOWCASE
A packed Thomas Arnold Hall thronged with the sounds of pupils, parents and staff on Tuesday afternoon for the annual Prep Spring Showcase. We were thrilled to welcome so many parents and grandparents to share with them excerpts of the daily learning life of the School. The range of learning opportunities that Warminster Prep has to offer certainly did not disappoint and it was indeed a celebration of our pupils’ talents in so many forms.
The assembled crowd were treated to artwork from Y2-Y6; ballet performances from Reception, Y2 and Y5 pupils; Y2 and Y4 pupils singing Mon âne in French; and The Three Little Dinosaurs, a story brilliantly adapted and retold by Reception pupils. Following the Prep String Orchestra’s recent success at the Mid Somerset Festival, led by Mrs Thornton, it was a delight to hear performed The Flop-Eared Mule and Circus March. Years 3 and 4 once again pleased the audience with excerpts of their recent production Pirates versus Mermaids which included a rather naughty parrot played by Kate Mills. Pre Prep, Prep and Chamber Choirs sang a range of songs beautifully including Keep Music Alive, Don’t Let Them Spoil the Rain, What a Wonderful World and The Season of Singing. The audience was in fine voice too and were brilliant at joining in shared songs and games together at the beginning. Charlie Loudoun spoke about Speech and Drama work across the School with great joy and we were treated to solo performances by Alfie Crinion and Molly Morris. A highlight was the rallying speech from Shakepeare’s Henry V performed by Amélie Mortimer, supported by Y5 pupils.
MrTitley described the enormous privilege for him and all the staff to work with the amazing Prep pupils. The afternoon was an inspiration for all of us present.
