PREP SPORTS DAY
With the awful weather at the beginning and middle of the week, we did not hold out much hope for a glorious Sports Day. However, on the day we were surrounded by sunshine, smiles and super teamwork.
During the morning every child in Years 3-6 took part in the following field events; Shot Putt, Long Jump, Ball Throw, High Jump and Javelin. We even squeezed in a rest station for a snack and a drink. So many pupils achieved personal bests and the support for each other was phenomenal!
Children in Year 3 & 4 volunteered for 600m and children in Year 5 & 6 for 800m. Again there were some outstandingly fast runs and also some children who produced Personal Bests for themselves.
Picnics were enjoyed with parents, friends and grandparents. After about half an hour, athletes became twitchy and the afternoon track programme began. Hurdles were first on the agenda and all sorts of methods of going over the hurdles were used. Some more efficient than others!
We moved onto 75m, 100m and 200m races. There were some tired legs after all this but a great amount of enthusiasm for relays especially the whole house relay at the end. Every child in each House ran at least one leg for the relay. The final placings for the whole day came down to this very last race.
Final placings were;
Arnold 925 points
Ken 922 points
Denys 914 points
The two highest scoring athletes in Year 6 were:
Victrix Ludorum – Anna Galpin
Victor Ludorum – Linus Emuna
A wonderfully, fulfilling day for all and we look forward to Pre-Prep Sports Day on Friday 23 June. Well done to all of the House Captains who supported all their athletes.
