PREP SOLOIST CONCERT

PREP SOLOIST CONCERT

Prep Soloist Concert

On Monday 21 November the first Prep Concert for soloists of the term took place.  Nearly thirty children from Year 1 through to Year 6 played a solo on an instrument that they have been learning.  Some children were able to play a simple tune even though they had only been having lessons since September whereas an older child played a movement from a concerto!  The children played a variety of instruments from the piano, the guitar, stringed instruments, woodwind and of course brass.  They even announced their pieces and took a bow at the audience's applause – an important part of giving a public performance. Whatever stage the children are at, it is important that they have as many opportunities as possible to develop their performance skills.

I was very proud of the way the children played their pieces, presented themselves and supported one another.  They displayed such confidence and I am very much looking forward to further developing their musical abilities.
