Northdown trip to Weymouth
On the 13th September the girls of Northdown House took two minibuses to Weymouth Beach with Miss W, Miss S, Mrs Bob and the Crinion family. The journey took a little over two hours and we spent part of it singing badly to 80s tunes and probably driving Mrs C a little insane! When we arrived at our hotel we checked in and were excited to find out which rooms we were in. Most of us were in rooms of either two or three and there were squeals of delight as we found out who our roomies were.
After 10 minutes unpacking (and a lot longer trying to actually find our rooms) we were met with a decision: would we like to go to the beach or go shopping? Much to Mrs Crinion’s and Mrs Bob’s disgust we all chose to hit the shops! They reminded us that we had not travelled all the way to Weymouth to go shopping, so some of us joined them for fun on the sand as well.
When we had finished we walked back to the hotel and got ready for our dinner of fish and chips (although most of the girls decided that chicken nuggets would be a better choice). The restaurant was lovely and the food was delicious.
After dinner Mrs Crinion had to avoid nearly getting run over in her attempt to get a house photo of us all on the harbour wall. We then walked down to the beach and had some fun frolicking in the sand and sea. We crept back to the hotel rather wet and sandy, trying to remain unnoticed by the stern women at the desk. Alfie, however, decided that it would be a good idea to sit in the sand and ended up traipsing it into the hotel lobby anyway!
The next morning, after a restless sleep due to the wedding party below us, we were woken by a disgruntled Freya who had, in her attempt to navigate the maze of rooms, got hideously lost. We met for breakfast at half past eight and enjoyed tucking into a full English fry up and many cups of tea. We spent the remainder of the day playing on the beach, crabbing with Mr Crinion and gorging ourselves on sweets and delicious ice-creams. Some girls even won things at the arcade!
We had lunch at a lovely little restaurant and then, to end a pretty perfect weekend at the seaside, enjoyed some Italian ice cream. Of course, all good things must come to an end and we had to pack up and leave to return to school.
We would like to thank Miss W, Miss S, Mrs Bob, Mr Crinion, Mrs Crinion, Niamh and Alfie for making the weekend what it was…FABULOUS!
