DEVELOPING OUR YOUNG MINDS
Our new Head of Lower School has high expectations.
This new term welcomes a change in a key role within our teaching staff – our Head of Lower School. For our Year 7 and Year 8 pupils this role is pivotal to their school experience, both in and out of the classroom. From the transition from prep to senior life, to overseeing both their academic and pastoral progress, the Head of Lower School provides the focus for our young pupils.
Mrs Georgia Jukes is one our highly respected language teachers and teaches Spanish to both prep and senior pupils. Mr Mortimer explains, “Mrs Jukes has played an instrumental role in Warminster School life from the moment she arrived with us in 2014. From the outset her pastoral skills made her an obvious choice as a Lower School tutor and shortly afterwards to become our Head of Life Skills. We are now delighted that she has taken on the demanding and rewarding post of Head of Lower School.”
Mrs Jukes comments, “I am excited to take up the role of Head of Lower School. I have been a tutor of Lower School pupils for several years during which I have seen the challenges that our pupils may face and learned how best to support them to ensure they flourish. Here at Warminster School every pupil’s Tutor is their ‘champion’. Our genuine pupil/teacher relationships here at Warminster School lie at the very core of the strong pastoral care we deliver and my role as Head of Lower School is to ensure that we continue to nurture those special bonds. I particularly endorse our Warminster Award Scheme (Gold Award) for our Year 7 and 8 pupils – it really is a tremendous way of providing a focus for the development of confidence, resilience and leadership skills.”
Congratulations Mrs Jukes and we look forward to our Lower School pupils earning record breaking Gold awards over the coming months!
