LIVE FROM BUSHCRAFT!

Mr Fothergill, enjoying himself too much on the Bushcraft trip (if you have been following Twitter), files a live report from the forest.

The Year 5 Bushcraft residential trip has again been a huge success.

This annual trip is a great way for the children to learn outside of the classroom and is a great extension to our own Forest School.  The fire building, cooking, shelter building, first aid and trap setting skills are obvious to all of the children, but the less overt skills of leadership, teamwork, resilience and tolerance are clear to the observing staff. Some children have found themselves firmly outside of their comfort zones, whether it be swimming in a cold lake, sleeping in a shelter they built themselves or simply doing the washing up: all of the children have tackled every situation with determination.

As ever, the Bushcraft Company have been brilliant in their organisation and attention to detail. This is certainly a highlight in the Warminster calendar for all of our 9 and 10 year olds and provides an enhanced appreciation of nature and the outdoors.
