MFL poetry competition

MFL poetry competition

For the second year running, the Modern Foreign Languages Department has run a Lower School poetry competition. This concluded last week.  Pupils in Year 8 and 9 chose one poem in French or Spanish to learn, while those in Year 7 choose one French poem. They were judged on presentation, accuracy and delivery, with the best three best performances from each set continuing to the next round. An overall winner and two runners up were then chosen from each year group. Certificates were awarded to the winners for both French and Spanish. They also presented their poems magnificently to the entire Lower School during a special assembly.

The winners of this year’s competition were:

  • French
    • Year 7 – Archie Fogg
    • Year 8 – Poshan Ghale
    • Year 9 – Ben James
  • Spanish
    • Year 8 – Izzy Robinson
    • Year 9 – Bea McIntosh and Sophie Watson

Congratulations to the winners but also to everyone who took part. There were some excellent performances with many featuring fantastic actions. We are very much looking forward to next year's competition!
