Mencap Morning
On Saturday 20th September, Warminster School held its annual morning of activities for local members of Mencap and their carers.
Upon arrival our guests mingled with Sixth Form pupils and had the opportunity to select their activities from a range of options including: nail and face painting, cookery, football, Zumba and drumming. The drumming was immensely popular and even from a distance the sound was fantastic. In the cookery activity participants made marshmallow cakes while many came away with painted faces and fancy nails. There was a break mid-morning during which everyone indulged in tea and cakes in the Sports Hall before returning to a new activity.
After the second session had finished, we all went out on to Boniface Pitch for Mr Bonnell’s greatest joy, the tug of war. This pitted the MENCAP members against many of our rugby players but in the end our guests triumphed. The morning concluded with the presentation of certificates to all those who attended and a short speech from the Headmaster.
It was both a fun and emotional morning and our thanks go to Mrs Wilcox for organising the whole thing.
