Macbeth

The Drama Department are pleased to announce their Senior School Production will be William Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
The play focuses on power acquisition, betrayal, the supernatural and the influence of a guilty conscience. After a chance encounter with a gaggle of witches upon the heath, Scottish thane Macbeth is convinced he will become king. With the small problem of Duncan, the current King of Scotland, Macbeth is persuaded by his devious wife Lady Macbeth to kill the king! The consequences of Macbeth’s actions ricochet through the play as the influence of the supernatural versus man’s innate belief in fate, lead to violence, deception and the decent into madness for both Macbeth and his power hungry wife.
Rehearsals are now well under way and the pupils are thoroughly enjoying bringing this exhilaratingly dark story to life. The performances will take place on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November at 7.30pm in the Athenaeum Centre, Warminster. Tickets are now on sale through the Athenaeum’s website www.theath.org.uk or by calling the Box Office on 01985 213891. Following the success of last year’s senior school musical Anything Goes, the Drama Department warmly invite you to join us for this murderous tale of epic proportions.
