LONGLEAT CHALLENGE

LONGLEAT CHALLENGE

Five brave members of Stratton House signed up to run the 10k, Longleat Race. For the majority, this was the first ever running event that they had been involved in. Pupils involved were Vittoria Ferrario, Rosa Velten and Lilli Wieberniet along with House Tutors, Miss Mitterrutzner and Miss Townsend.

The runners awoke in the early hours of the morning and were ready to face a very hilly race course and a cold blustery 9am start. Nerves and adrenaline were high and it certainly did not help when there were several rumours that this race course was not for the faint hearted!

Rosa completed her 2 mile “fun” run in an impressive time of 25.27 minutes. Miss Townsend came in at 48 minutes followed closely by Lilli who just managed to beat the 1 hour mark. Miss Mitterrutzner was third coming in at 1hr 5 minutes and finally Vittoria crossed the finish line with a time of 1hr 15. Miss Townsend commented “It was fair to say that all of us found the course very challenging. I am very proud of the girls for setting themselves this challenge, remaining motivated to train for a long period of time and for finishing the race in one piece! Hopefully this will not be the last race we complete and I hope that next time there will be more members who join Team Stratton. Thank you to everyone who has supported us and donated to our charity, Parkinsons Disease UK.”
