London Drama trip
Earlier this month, GCSE and A Level pupils travelled to London for the annual residential Drama trip. After checking in to their hotel, a leisurely stroll along the South Bank allowed pupils to see famous landmarks including the Globe Theatre and the Tate Modern, before eventually arriving at The National Theatre. They then watched the evening performance of Treasure Island which featured a mind-blowingly elaborate set and a striking visual concept.
On Saturday the pupils enjoyed free time in sunny Covent Garden before watching The Curious Incident of the Dog in The Night-Time. This performance was exceptionally moving and an excellent example of non-naturalistic set design. Will Pratt (Upper Sixth), who studies A Level Theatre Studies, said “Both shows were inspirational and have given me great ideas to incorporate into our practical work.”
