JUST WILLIAM APPEAL

Pupils, parents and staff came together to kick-start fundraising for their brilliant school photographer, Jon Edkins and his family.
A fund-raising day was held on 4 July for pupils, Old Verlucians, staff and parents that concluded with a delicious and plentiful afternoon tea on School House lawn organised by Head Chef, Alex Rall, with guests of honour, William and his parents.
Jon and his wife are trying to raise £40,000 to help adapt their home to support William, their 14 year old son, who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. Having heard about the fund-raising campaign, many staff and pupils at Warminster School were very keen to help, a mark of the affection and respect they all have for Jon.
The Headmaster, Mark Mortimer, said “It was wonderful to see the school community come together to eat cake. It didn’t take much persuading! However, the main reason was to support the fundraising for William, the inspirational son of the school photographer, Jon Edkins, from local firm David Wiltshire Photography. The School places a lot of emphasis on the idea of service to others and the pupils’ response to the campaign has underlined this, as well as highlighting the esteem in which Jon is held at Warminster School.”
Jon commented, “Karen and I are overwhelmed by the support shown from everyone at Warminster. We enjoyed a lovely afternoon, with lots of cake and William even shared a joke with the Headmaster! We understand that donationas are still being counted, but it looks like almost £1,000 has been raised. The community at Warminster always pull together and we appreciate it hugely. Thank you from all of us.”
There will be a number of events taking place over the coming months to help support the ‘Just William Appeal’. Thank you to everyone for supporting.
