JUNIOR ORCHESTRAL DAY

On Tuesday 9 May, 15 instrumentalists from Warminster School (3 from the Senior years and 12 from the Prep years) participated in an afternoon of orchestral music at Bryanston School with Mrs Robinson and Mrs Francis. Initially they went into section rehearsals (strings, woodwind, brass and percussion) before joining up together as the whole orchestra. Nearly 140 children from 10 different schools made up the huge orchestra. In fact, there were so many instrumentalists that the Brass players got promoted up onto the balcony above the orchestra! At the end of the afternoon, parents and teachers were treated to a super concert where each section performed a piece and the finale being a stunning performance of “Dansbury Run” played by the whole orchestra.
Our pupils played beautifully and enjoyed playing in such a large group. The afternoon was a splendid example of children concentrating hard and showing superb ensemble skills but most importantly having fun and enjoying music together.
