Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk

A voiceover by a grumpy mother shouting at poor Jack about people in the back yard who may not have turned off their mobile phones set the scene perfectly for last week's fantastic production of Jack and the Beanstalk by our talented Year 3 and 4 pupils. Rachael Shepherd as Jack's fiery and feisty mother shone throughout working magically alongside our poor Jack, played effortlessly by Charlie Godfrey-Faussett. His highlight was Man in the Moon sung in harmony with the rest of the cast, overlooked by our own Man in the Moon, Joseph McQuilton.

The cast of Year 3 market sellers created a rousing chorus, note and word perfect throughout. The farmyard, complete with hay bales and gates, was inhabited by singing animals including a dancing cow (Madeline Burdess), dancing cockerel and chicken (William Mowbray and William Candy), horses (Archie Maclaren and Harry Butterworth) and many others.

As the Giant's voice (Alex Robinson) echoed around, the farm animals showed their fear, with the quaking, pink stocking-clad legs of the pig (Josh Manuel), being a particularly memorable moment. Alex then gave a scarily beautiful rendition of Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum backed in harmony by the chorus.

Glittering beanstalks, disco moments and some excellent choral work combined to leave the audience throughly well entertained and the children very proud of their work.
