INSPIRED BY THE CITY OF BATH
The Upper Sixth pupils recently received the themes for their Controlled Assignment and this City of Bath visit was a fantastic opportunity for them to engage and view artworks first hand and collect primary resources directly linked to their chosen theme.
The themes set by the examination board this year included; aged, costume, antiquity, plethora and terraced. During the visit, pupils had the opportunity to sketch and photograph architectural landmarks and visit the Holburne Museum, Victoria Art Gallery and The Fashion Museum. Here they viewed costumes throughout the ages, a plethora of objets d’art, antiquities, work by a variety of artists and oil paintings of the City of Bath by artist Peter Brown.
Mr Kemble, Art & Photography Teacher said, “Pupils had a rewarding experience and we would like to thank The White Horse Decorative and Fine Arts Society who funded the visit and a special thanks to Mrs Hilary Jackson who accompanied the pupils during their visit.”
