GCSE RESULTS 2023
Following some excellent International Baccalaureate (IB) and A Level results, we are celebrating once again with Year 11 pupils gaining a superb set of GCSE results.
Despite the well advertised drop in grades from 2022, this summer’s results are in-line with the 2022 results and show improvement in outcomes from the years preceding the COVID pandemic. There are numerous highlight statistics, but the most pleasing is that 84% of our Year 11 pupils move on to post-16 studies with five passes including the all important maths and English GCSEs.
The STEM subjects continue to impress with a record number of grade 9’s in mathematics and nearly one in every two grades in physics being at grades 9-7.
Likewise, against a national backdrop of declining numbers in languages, the MFL department continue to inspire our pupils in French, German and Spanish with two in every three grades graded at 9-7, an outstanding achievement.
While many pupils exceeded expectations, there were some outstanding individual performances: Emily Garner achieved a magnificent eight grade 9s and two grade 8s; Archie Best was awarded six grade 9s and three grade 8s; Ella Morgan-Nash performing well with six grade 9s and two grade 8s; Finn Shepherd and Henry Williams both achieving five grade 9s each as well as six grade 8s between them.
We look forward to welcoming back our many talented Year 11 pupils who will now start the A Level or International Baccalaureate Programme at Warminster.
Headmaster, Matt Williams commented “I am delighted that our Year 11 pupils have done so well and there were some exceptional performances. As a school, we are pleased to see the overall trend to be one of improvement with our overall pass rate, excluding the Covid years, the best since 2010. In our mission to nurture and develop ’rounded individuals’ we fully appreciate that these grades do not define our pupils, but it is gratifying to see that strong individual academic achievement remains the central pillar of a Warminster education.”
