GCSE Results 2015

Against a background of continued strengthening of academic qualifications, Warminster School is delighted with today’s GCSE results. 88% of the cohort have achieved five A*- C grades, with 64% gaining five Cs or above including maths, English, science and a modern foreign language.  The A*/A pass rate has gone up to 33%.  These results continue the upwards trend of recent years and reflect the very hard work of both pupils and staff.  Pupils now have an excellent foundation for sixth form studies of either A Levels or the International Baccalaureate and can move forward confidently to this next chapter in their education.

Reflecting their A Level success, mathematics and separate sciences have performed particularly strongly, with 72% gaining A*/A.  This is a tremendous result and enhances the School’s reputation for its excellence in STEM subjects.

While many pupils exceeded expectations, there were some outstanding individual performances:  James Caldwell, Christian Folkesson, Tallulah Cope, Claudia Eeles and Aidan King recorded 28 A* and 24 A grades between them.

We congratulate all the pupils for their achievements this summer and look forward to welcoming them into the Sixth Form in September.

Headmaster Mark Mortimer commented: “These are encouraging results by an impressive group of pupils. They deserve great praise for their hard work and conscientious, determined approach, which has clearly paid off. While I am particularly delighted by the increase in the headline figures and the success in STEM subjects, I am equally pleased by the fact that the majority of pupils fulfilled their potential. The School is proud of all of them.”
