FRIENDSHIPS MADE

For the past few years, Ivy House has spent a weekend in Weymouth early in the term.  This has proved to be a real highlight of our year and a perfect way for us all to get to know one another whilst having lots of fun.

We were absolutely blessed with stunning weather this year and that set the tone for a brilliant weekend.  For returning pupils and for those of us who had never been, it was a real adventure.

We stayed in a small hotel on the seafront and all the activities were within easy walking distance.  We embraced all the opportunities offered by the quintessential British seaside town.  Beach activities led the way, with frisbee, volleyball, sandcastles, shell seeking, crabbing, paddling and naturally catching some rays!  The girls absolutely loved the amusement arcade and fair ground – almost as much as the staff.  Our food consisted of delicious fish n chips, full served breakfast, a beach picnic and of course, ice creams in all sorts of exotic flavours.

We also announced our Prefect team which caused great anticipation and excitement.  We were thrilled with the calibre of the applicants and it was an extremely difficult decision… however, we know that with Ella Grewal as Head, Iksha Limbu as Deputy, Tia Smye, Sunny Yang and Livvy Curry as prefects the house is in good hands.

Phones were collected in once the girls were in their rooms and as a result they all caught up on 'Britain’s Got Talent' which made for a very lively discussion at breakfast.  The most significant impact of this time spent together away from school is the reinforcement of the relationships that are already forging in the boarding house.  The interaction between younger and older girls, new and old boarders and the mix of different nationalities is always heartwarming. Add to that mix the staff and we have our own unique Ivy family!

By the time we get back from Weymouth our household is forged and it sets a super tone going forward for the rest of the term.
