FIGHTING FIT

Fighting fit with our new Warminster School in-house Physiotherapy service.

Warminster School’s wrap around care approach for all its pupils now includes an in-house physiotherapy service.  Melissa Gairdner has over 20 years’ experience as a specialised paediatric physiotherapist in the management of children and young adults, both in the NHS and the private sector. With a special interest in musculoskeletal conditions, youth strength and conditioning as well as rehabilitation needs, this new service greatly enhances our flourishing sports department.

Melissa explains, “Located right at the heart of our sports facilities I have swift access to both pupils and staff which assists greatly with treatment, minimising disruption to academic studies, managing injury time and ultimately an individual’s return to full function.”  Physiotherapy appointments are available midweek and pupils can call in to see Mrs Gairdner during the free triage clinic every Friday lunchtime, “This is the ideal way for me to see if physio is the appropriate course of action as well as check pupils if they are unsure they are fit for sport.”

WHEN – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday – During games periods and lunch

Friday – Free triage clinic during lunch

WHERE – Upstairs in the Senior Sports Hall

Mrs Gairdner’s skills have already proved indispensable during our highly successful hockey tour last term and we look forward to all our pupils and staff benefitting from her expertise when needed.
