DORSET SPORTS TOUR

DORSET SPORTS TOUR

Thirty nine Prep children arrived at school on Friday in a very excited mood.  They were dressed ready to play hockey and netball in their full sports kit and special tour hoody.

After packing up three mini-buses and a car, we set off to Dorchester for the first day of the tour.  We parked in a village called Poundbury, and each group of children had a drink and a cake in the wonderful Octagon Café which have both lovely staff and food!

Our first fixture was against Sunninghill Prep, a delightful school in Dorchester.  They have a brand new astro with boards around the edge and this made for some action packed hockey.  We had three teams for hockey and it was brilliant to see the improvement from the beginning of term in all the players.  While a team was playing, the other boys competed at dodge ball. The B team drew and the A team won 4-0.  The girls played superb netball and won both matches, even in new positions.

After a fantastic tea and play on the adventure playground, we set off on a high to the Premier Inn Hotel in Poole, for a fun filled evening and Domino's Pizza for all. The next morning everyone was up and dressed by 8.00am and enjoyed a delicious hotel breakfast. The next part of the tour consisted of water slides for two hours at Splashdown Waterpark and a well deserved break for the staff.  The last match was at one of our fixture favourites, Forres Sandle Manor.  At this stage, there were some tired legs on the pitch and court, but again the girls performed to a high standard, winning all their tour matches.  The boys played forty minute matches and the A team lost 4-0, but the final score was not a true reflection of the energy and effort that our boys put into their game.

Throughout the whole tour there was a real sense of team cohesion, very funny moments and kind behaviour towards each other.  We all enjoyed a wonderful trip and thank the pupils and staff for making this possible.  As I said last year, what goes on tour, stays on tour!
