CATERPILLAR CAPERS
Having taken delivery of some tiny caterpillars at the start of term, Nursery and Reception classes then released some beautiful Painted Lady butterflies onto the field this week.
We chose to let them go next to our new wild flower garden as we had been learning that they would need to find nectar to drink. Although the children were very sad to see them go, they understood the need for their butterflies to be able to fly around in the open and enjoy the sunshine. They were delighted that the butterflies did not immediately fly away so they were able to hold them and say a proper goodbye. Arthur, in Reception Class summed up the views of all the children when he exclaimed excitedly “I love butterflies! They are my new favourite animal”.
