BOURNEMOUTH RUNNERS

We are thrilled to announce that a dedicated group of sixth formers successfully completed the Bournemouth Half Marathon at the weekend. Running in support of Orchid, which focuses on raising awareness and funding research for men’s cancers, the boys have made an incredible impact through their efforts.
In April, in response to one of them receiving a testicular cancer diagnosis, the group came together to raise money and awareness to support him and his family.
To date, they have raised over £14,500 for Orchid and around £2,000 for Abby’s Heroes, a charity that provides essential support to children and young people facing cancer.
Our community is incredibly proud of the “Bournemouth Runners,” as they have been named. Their journey has been a true testament to their friendship and determination to complete the 13.1 mile race on Sunday.
Marie Hounslow, Head of Fundraising at Orchid Male Cancer said and pictured with the boys: “It was a pleasure to cheer on this inspirational group of Six Formers at the Bournemouth Half Marathon. Will and his friends ran a fantastic race and have raised an impressive £14,500 to date. Importantly, they have not shied away from talking about testicular cancer, and this will help many others in the future. The support from family and friends has been overwhelming!”
We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported the boys’ fundraising campaign, and congratulate the runners on their outstanding achievement. Donations are still being accepted, if you would like to contribute to their fundraising campaign, please visit their Gofundme page here.
