ENERGY TO CREATE CHANGE FOR BOLD VOICES
Raising money for a great cause raised the Thomas Arnold roof!
There was no doubting the challenge our Year 13 pupil, Immie Brumby was setting herself when she embarked on her EPQ artefact, organising an ambitious fundraiser in just 3 months with the not small matter of the long summer break sitting right in the middle and unsure of what the pandemic might bring too. Driven by a passion to make a difference for young people both in her own school and in her local area, she was more than up to the challenge. Fast forward to Saturday September 18th and over 100 excited individuals of all ages, arrived for the event of the year!
“Everything – even the weather, luckily worked out as I had hoped!” smiles Immie. “I am so grateful for the phenomenal support from local businesses who gave so generously for the silent auction prizes, lead sponsor The Soundpost and the generous donations given for the amazing raffle. We have raised over £5,000 which will fund the first Bold Voices area hub as part of their Ambassador Programme. Knowing this money will support members of my own school and contemporaries from other schools in our area, to learn together and move towards a mutually respectful society is a special thing,” explains Immie. “The support from within Warminster School has truly been fantastic and I have to thank our incredible catering team, led by Mrs Burnett and Head Chef, Ashley Richard who gave their time and expertise so generously. Warminster is such a great community to be a part of which is one of the reasons why I believe playing such a key part in the Bold Voices Ambassador Programme will be of so much benefit to all of us.”
“It was a really proud night for the School,” explains Matt Williams, Headmaster. “Welcoming OV Natasha Eeles, founder of Bold Voices, back to her old school for such a worthwhile cause was a great moment for everyone. It was the perfect way to come together whilst raising awareness about an issue which is so central to young people’s lives.”
Gill Walmsley, Head of Sixth Form echoed the Headmaster's sentiments “Immie was on a mission this summer and organised a fantastic evening for all her guests. She has worked incredibly hard for her EPQ and Bold Voices, we are all proud of her achievement.”
