Boarders paintballing trip

Boarders paintballing trip

Last weekend a group of junior boarders from The Old Vicarage and Northdown houses made the short journey to the Skirmish Paintball Centre. They were divided up into two teams, one led by Mr Mercer, the other by both Mr Williams and Miss Westgate. The two teams soon became fierce rivals, yet it also became clear who the boarders would target the most…the staff!

The first game was one of invasion, whereby each team aimed to invade their opponent’s base by eliminating all opposing players from the game. Team Mercer won 2-0. The second match involved having to retrieve a package from the middle of the battlefield and then deliver it back to base. Both teams rushed to the package, resulting in a monumental stand-off. Who could hold their nerve the longest? A brave member of Team Williams-Westgate made a break for it, only to get shot in the hand! Then, as the members of Team Mercer started to dwindle, Mr Williams made a run for the package, dodging bullets with ease. He was half way back to base when a barrage of paint hit him in the back, some of which definitely came from a Westgate gun! With his hands aloft, he surrendered, only to receive five or six more body shots from a pair of boarders with decidedly selective hearing. Team Mercer secured the package and, in one last brave effort, managed to get it to their base before the end of the game.

The final score was Team Mercer 4, Team Williams-Westgate 0, although paintball was the real winner! All the boarders would like to thank Mrs Finnigan for organising the trip, along with the staff who accompanied them on the day.
