ARKWIGHT SUCCESS
Warminster School is an Arkwright Scholarship Trust Affiliated School. The Trust is a registered charity that administers the most prestigious STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) scholarship scheme of its type in the UK. Over the past three years we have had five pupils successfully go through the required process and become Arkwright Scholars.
The Trust identifies and encourages future leaders in engineering and related areas of design. They do this by awarding Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, through a rigorous selection process, to high-calibre students in Year 11 from across the UK. These Engineering Scholarships support students through their Post-16 studies, and encourage them to pursue engineering or related areas of design at university.
The Arkwright Engineering Scholarships are sponsored by industrial companies, universities, charitable trusts, trade associations, professional engineering institutions, the armed services and personal donors. The Sponsors become individual partners with the successful applicants where a full programme of enrichment and residential courses is provided.
After the lengthy process of nomination, application, examination and interview, I am pleased to announce that current A Level Design Technology pupil Benjamin Austin has been successful in being awarded a scholarship. Benjamin has been introduced to his Sponsor, the Reece Foundation, as he has started his A Level courses. He will be formally presented with his Scholarships at a ceremony hosted by the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) at a later date.
Now Benjamin will spend time working with the Reece Foundation to develop his understanding of the engineering sector. In addition they will be spending time inspiring the younger pupils at Warminster School in the hope that they too will be motivated to apply for the Arkwright Scholarship programme.
Congratulations Benjamin from everyone at Warminster on your success.
