AN ELEGANT END TO A WHIRLWIND YEAR

What a whirlwind of a year! New parent welcome drinks hosted by the Headmaster, Fireworks Festival, Christmas Dinner Dance, Christmas Fayre, Chilli & Quiz Night and the Masquerade Summer Ball. Add to that all the other bits in between with the Second Hand pop-up shops, Prep School coffee mornings, Prep and Senior sports days, the OV Black Tie Dinner and the Year 7 and Year 9 induction day. I think everyone – committee members, parents and the ever present internal support staff – deserve a resounding round of applause. This has been one of the most financially rewarding years for the WSPA we have seen in quite a long time, none of which would have been possible without the continued tireless support of those just mentioned.
As the Headmaster has said on many an occasion, we are a community. This invaluable community support, drive and enthusiasm has allowed the WSPA, in conjunction with the School, to provide many extra ‘bells and whistles’ for our children. This year, the Committee has been thrilled to assist with a medical centre revamp, the English and Learning Support department’s newly created reading areas, a massage table for our new physiotherapist, and additional outdoor seating for pupils. We are also very proud to be contributing towards the Prep playground revamp, the new fitness trail and the long awaited, soon-to-be-released history of the School.
Following on from the amazing success of last weekend’s summer ball, we can’t wait to see what the Headmaster and Mr Watts have in store for the Astroturf! We were proud to host this years elegant fundraiser Masquerade Ball on Boniface Lawn, on what felt like the hottest evening of the year! There was an air of mystery and elegance with many beautiful masks on show. Guests were welcomed with glasses of chilled fizz, sponsored by David Wiltshire Photography and beautiful tunes from Maisie Fogg, Ben Stone and Joe Sargeant. The Summer Ball Committee would like to acknowledge and thank everyone for their support.
Finally, I cannot possibly begin to express my gratitude to the Warminster School community. This year we have done some remarkable things for our children and our school. Remember, the WSPA is always open to new ideas, new participants and new adventures. Thank you for your fabulous support, have a lovely summer holiday and I look forward to welcoming you all to our next meeting and AGM on Monday 10 September – although if ALL of you are planning to attend the meeting, I suppose we should warn the catering staff!
With much gratitude,
Debbie Kennett, Chair WSPA
