A NEW HOME

Sixth formers are LOVING their new home.
Replacing an award-winning Head of Sixth Form is a big challenge that not many members of staff would relish taking on. However, for one such member of staff at Warminster, Mrs 'can-do' Walmsley, it was a role that she couldn’t say no to!
Mrs Walmsley, a much-loved member of staff who is well known for her energy and infectious ‘can-do’ approach, led the Sixth Form move into Townroe Lodge over the summer, and now our pupils are enjoying and benefitting from this new inspirational environment for their sixth form journey.
Gill commented, “For me the nicest thing about Townroe is the buzz of hearing it full of chatter and laughter. Townroe Lodge is alive again! In the 3 short weeks we have been back, the pupils are enjoying being back with old friends and have also very quickly made many new friends. In the evening, Townroe remains a place for both study and socialising for day pupils and boarders. We are looking forward to increasing the social aspect with some fun events in the weeks to come; I am delighted at the reception Townroe has received”.
With the advantage of being a fully contained home, Townroe Lodge is situated right in the heart of the School campus. Included in the facilities is a large welcoming hallway, spacious and vibrant communal rooms as well as a kitchen, not to mention its own private garden. Our lucky Sixth Formers enjoy the use of large study areas designed to make the very most of private study periods and richly enhance their learning experience. Significantly, the Lodge is open in the evenings (until 10pm on a Friday), providing that much needed social space for our sixth formers.
Sixth former, India, said of their new space, “Going to Townroe Lodge is something I look forward to when I come into school. It gives everyone a space where they feel they can relax in the common rooms or study upstairs in a quiet space. Being able to stay longer after school if we need to or just to be able to hang out with our friends makes it really feel like a second home”.
Lorenzo, new to Warminster added, “My first couple weeks here were amazing! I had the chance to meet lots of new people, new teachers and make new friends. I discovered a new school system I really enjoy and had the possibility of exploring new things and experiences. The Lodge is a great base for the Sixth Form and because of the setup, it has given me the opportunity to make a lot of new friends very fast”.
What lucky sixth formers!
