A Level success for Sixth Formers

A Level success for Sixth Formers

With an overall pass rate of 99.2%, the highest for five years, Warminster pupils have cause to celebrate today as they reap the rewards for their hard work. They can be particularly satisfied to have achieved so highly in the face of the evolution of an increasingly rigorous A Level exam system in recent years.

Individuals who excelled include local pupil Jonathan Kermode, with an A*, and three A grades, Yuri Sheblov from Russia with four A grades and Head Girl, Emma Tizard from Salisbury, who achieved A*A B to secure her place at York University.  Jonathan has secured a place to read Mechanical Engineering at Bath, while Yuri has been accepted to read Economics at King’s College, London. Joining him at King’s to read Economics will be IB graduate Alexander Huebner, whose 40 points put him in the top 5% in the world’s IB cohort for this year. We are also delighted that Katerina Voitukhova, who scored 35 IB points, will now study Economics at McGill University in Canada, whilst Nele Wessels has been accepted at the newly founded and prestigious Hochschule Rhein Waal Business University in Germany.

Combined with the pass rate achieved by IB pupils, Warminster upper sixth formers have achieved an average of 340 university entry points, which is the equivalent of AAB at A Level. The excellent results mean that the great majority of the leavers of 2015 have, despite tough competition at the top universities this year, secured their place at their first-choice universities. The School wishes them every success with their future studies.

Headmaster, Mark Mortimer applauded both pupils and staff for their hard work and dedication.

“I congratulate the pupils on their A Level and IB results; I am particularly pleased that the great majority have got into their first-choice university and also that most of the pupils have achieved their full potential in their examinations. This is testament to their hard work and likewise that of the teachers at the School.”
