Warminster School is proud to bring Gilbert and Sullivan’s comic opera ‘The Mikado’ to the Athenaeum Centre in Warminster.
Prince Nanki-Poo (Ben Ecclestone) has fled the court of his father, the Mikado (James Wilson), to escape an arranged marriage with the elderly and rather frightening Katisha (Susie Parrack). Disguised as a wandering minstrel, Nanki-Poo travels to the town of Titipu where he falls in love with Yum-Yum (Lucy Cadwallader). Sadly, Yum-Yum is already engaged to the Lord High Executioner (Patrick Williams). This witty tale of tangled law and love is a thinly veiled commentary on Victorian England. Musical highlights include: A Wandering Minstrel I, Three Little Maids from School and Willow, Tit-Willow.
In this traditionally staged production (with scenery & costumes designed by ex-Warminster School pupil Louise Judge, and featuring a live chamber orchestra and a cast of 47), pupils and staff from Warminster School come together in a collaborative effort both onstage and offstage. After the delights of the 2010 production of ‘The Pirates of Penzance’ this is sure to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
The production runs for two performances:
Thursday 2nd February 2012 @ 7:30pm (good seat availability)
Friday 3rd February 2012 @ 7:30pm (very limited seat availability)
Tickets are available now by contacting the box office directly on 01985 213891 (credit cards are accepted). The box office is open 1030am until 1pm Monday to Saturday.
We look forward to seeing you there!
