As part of the on-going Drama workshop series at Warminster School, GCSE and A Level Drama students were visited by Peter Sandys-Clarke, an established screen and stage actor able to lay claim to appearances in Foyle’s War, Torchwood, Desperate Romantics and Journey’s End amongst others.
Peter visited students to speak about his experiences both on screen and on stage giving students tips and advice on how to behave when it comes to auditioning, and carrying that performance forward whether it be for the stage or the screen.
Students were split into four groups and each given script passages from George Bernard Shaw’s ‘Pygmalion’, in which Peter has had experience in performing as Freddie Eynsford Hill at London’s Garrick Theatre.
The aim was for students to recognise the differing social classes in certain acts, through the performance of their peers, helping them to understand and interpret the audition techniques and use of 'improv' Peter had previously spoken about.
The workshop was fantastic to watch and the skills that Peter has opened the students’ eyes to will hopefully go on to help them at future auditions. The School would like to thank Peter for giving up his time to engage and inform our students on what many consider to be a focal point for their future.
