Warminster School pupils have risen to the challenge of the new, more demanding A Level examinations and have achieved 100% pass rate in all subjects.
Top local scholars included Nick Bourne, with A grades in Physics, Geography and Biology to add to his A* Extended Project, and Hollie Andrews, whose grades included an A grade in Art and one of the new A* grades in Photography. A* grades were achieved in a diverse range of subjects including Art, Business Studies and Mathematics. Nick will now be joining Emma Leworthy (IB 37 points) at Durham University. Hollie will pursue an Art Foundation course prior to developing a career in fashion.
Amongst other high performers were Kien Du with 3 A grades and Jeff Tsang with 4 A grades who will take up places at Warwick (Law) and Manchester (Accounting) respectively. Alongside their IB colleagues, Warminster A Level students have, as ever, obtained places at a wide range of prestigious universities. Of particular note are Martyn Perry to read Physiotherapy at Cardiff, William Hams to read Business Management at Surrey and Charles Allardice, who was awarded a Scholarship to read Physical Geography at Aberystwyth.
Headmaster, Martin Priestley, comments ‘A Level students have faced a double challenge this year: the revised, more discriminating A Level examinations and the unprecedented demand for a diminishing number of university places. I am particularly proud of the achievements of both pupils and staff in these difficult circumstances, and delighted that so many Warminster students can look forward to taking up their places at their chosen university.’
