Dr. Mark Martin
Dr. Mark Martin was educated at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire. He later studied for a BSc. degree in Biological Sciences at Leicester University. Glee at learning more about Biology led to a PhD. in Genetics at Imperial College London, Wye Campus. Mark spent four years undertaking research in the medical school at Bristol University before moving to follow a PGCE at Bath University. He taught in the state sector briefly and now specialises in teaching Biology. Mark is an examiner for the Biology International Baccalaureate diploma and is a member of the Institute of Biology. He is the Examinations Officer for the school.
Mr. Jonathan Bonnell
Jonathan Bonnell studied at Eastbourne Grammar School before reading a
Combined Science Degree at the University of Staffordshire. He graduated with honours and proceeded to follow a Standard Graduate course at Sandhurst prior to joining the Army. In his eight years he served with the Royal Artillery and supported the Royal Marines as the Battery Captain of 20 Cdo Bty RA. He moved to
Brokenhurst Tertiary College as a lecturer preparing students for the Public Services and completing the City and Guilds Certificate in Education and he taught Geography and Sports Studies up to Advanced Level. In 1997 he joined Warminster School as Housemaster of St.Boniface and he has taught across the sciences up to GCSE. His
specialisms are Biology and Geography and he has taught these subjects and Sports Studies up to Advanced level. Currently, Jonathan’s main teaching discipline is Biology and he is in charge of organising academic trips for the Faculty of Science. He is also Head of Lower School.
Philippa Kirby
Philippa Kirby was educated at Norwich School before she moved to study for a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biology at the University of Bath. During her degree she spent a year studying the genetics of schizophrenia at the University of Denver, Colorado. Following the completion of her degree Philippa spent 6 months working and skiing in Austria before returning to the University of Bath to complete her PGCE.
Philippa’s main teaching subject is Biology which she takes up to A-level and IB.
In her spare time Philippa is a keen lacrosse and badminton player, the later of which she played for England up to U21 level.
Mrs Catherine Wilson
Catherine Wilson holds a MA degree in SEN, a BSc (Hons.) degree in Physics & Engineering and a PGCE. She initially entered the commercial art, advertising and tourism sector and in her ten years with Caswell Studio Ltd she was a company director. She followed this with a move into the secondary education sector. She was Head of Science at Grateley House School, where she taught for five years and a combined science and applied science teacher at Kingdown Community School for four years. She moved to Warminster School in 2005 where she currently teaches Physics up to A-level and Chemistry and Mathematics up to GCSE. Throughout her teaching career she has worked with special educational need pupils and she has recently graduated with a Masters degree in Special Educational Needs with Middlesex University. Catherine's interests include astronomy and engineering. She ran a successful Astronomy Club at Kingdown School and she has now established a thriving Astronomy Club at Warminster. She is the Faculty of Science's Special Needs coordinator (including the Gifted and Talented), and is also in charge of advertising and marketing our activities. She is married to Marcus, both are keen sailors (both offshore and dinghy), and they have three children.
