The Old Vicarage

14x8_1.jpg

The Old Vicarage opened in 2001 as Warminster Senior School’s Junior Boarding House accommodating years seven and eight boys and girls. In 2007 the house became the junior boys’ boarding house looking after years seven to nine, with Northdown House accommodating the girls’ years seven to nine.

The Old Vicarage can cater for up to twenty seven both full time and weekly boarders. Some return home at weekends, while others stay on, often representing the school in sporting and other activities. These small numbers make it easier for staff to get to know the pupils and for the pupils to get to know each other.

The house has seen many changes over the past few years including the purchase of a new 50’ plasma TV for the common room, a new table tennis table and five new computers. These in addition to the many half termly competitions, including pool, table tennis, music and debating makes the house such a vibrant one. The house also embarks on many weekend trips including our annual teambuilding PGL challenge weekend, cinema trips and the ever popular paintballing trip as just a few.

We are very much looking forward to welcoming you in September. The Old Vicarage is our home too and whilst you are here, you will be part of our family.

We hope you will help us in making it a safe and happy place to be where everyone matters, and where respect for one another is reflected in the spirit of the House.

All of us here will do our best to help you settle in and enjoy the time you spend as junior boarders at Warminster. Hopefully, you will have many happy memories to take with you when you move on.

Please read this booklet carefully as we hope it will answer some of the questions you may have about boarding.

Housemaster's End of Term Spring Letter
Dear Parents/Guardians,

Once again it has been a very busy term in the Old Vicarage Boarding House with many events and activities going on. At the end of last term we said goodbye to a couple of our students who were only here for one term. This has enabled some movement of pupils into new dorms and also allowed various rooms and hallways to be painted in the House.

Red for Comic Relief!

Pupils of the Old Vic Boarding House, along with the rest of the school, took the opportunity to wear red today, in support of Comic Relief.

Warminster School enjoyed a Mufti-Day, and pupils were asked to try and wear the colour were possible. It was a great day which raised awareness for a great cause, and the Old Vic boys really enjoyed getting involved.

World Book Day

Thursday 7th March was World Book Day, and the Old Vicarage pupils, along with the rest of the School took the opportunity to dress up as their favourite characters from various books.

The boys in the Old Vic have been busy enjoying a varied and fun-packed weekend.

Saturday saw most of the boys taking part in the hockey fixtures against both Wells Cathedral and Downside schools.   Congratulations must go the U14 Boys’ hockey team, which continued in impressive form with a 7-0 win against Downside, helped by a hat trick from part-time boarder Ed West and a goal from Ross Melia.   The U14B team also did well, recording a 1-0 victory, with no less than six Old Vic boarders in the team.
