As Housemistress I have worked in several different schools working with students of all age groups and with boys and girls; I do enjoy teenagers though.
A sense of humour is vital but also the caring, listening approach is essential too.
For many it is their first experience of being away from home and it is vital we all work together to get them off to the best possible start.
In Stratton we aim to create a happy relaxed atmosphere which feels like home.
If the girls feel happy and secure within a caring environment then they should perform well in the classroom.
Each girl within the House is valued as an individual and we look for their strengths and encourage them to try new things whether they be in music, drama or sport, to build upon.
We encourage them to become self confident, responsible young ladies who will be a credit to themselves and those around them.
We have approximately 60 girls in the House and, to aid the staff, we have a team of excellent Prefects:
a Head of House; Deputy Head of House; and four others.
These people help with the organisation of events within the House and are a valuable asset.
It also teaches them to be responsible and reliable individuals, as well as the need to work as a team.
At various times throughout the year we have House activities such as the annual Easter Egg Hunt (enjoyed by seniors as well as juniors), summer BBQ’s on our newly reclaimed lawn, where team games are enjoyed by all,
DVD and pizza nights, along with the ever popular pancake evening.
The girls have also enjoyed beauty nights and, on one occasion, a beautician was invited into the House to give expert tips on how we could all stay young and beautiful!
We look forward to welcoming you to Stratton for a look around and to see for yourselves our 'home from home'.
We hope that all of you who join us will be happy and secure, and will feel very much at home with us.
