Sport and PE are of central importance at Warminster School. We believe that competitive team games and individual sporting disciplines both play an essential role in the development of pupils into healthy, well rounded adults.
The Sports Department strives for excellence in terms of individual results and team performance, often identifying talent early through the School's house competitions. Many boys and girls go on to represent the School at county and regional level. Yet at the same time, teachers work hard to ensure that all boys and girls - including those who are not natural sportsmen - have ample opportunities to reach their full potential.
Sport at Warminster School is currently expanding. We have more boys and girls wanting to participate and represent the school. A number of additional, specialist, full-time PE teachers have recently joined the School and a new Director of Sport.
Regular fixtures against other schools are held for both A and B teams at all age levels.
Warminster School has a full range of modern sports facilities including a large sports hall, a fully equipped fitness studio and a 20m outdoor swimming pool. The recently expanded playing fields has enabled the school to provide 5 rugby pitches, five football pitches, 6 new rounders pitches as well a new cricket square for 2009, and an artificial wicket.
Rugby has always been the main winter sport for boys' at the School and hockey for the girls', with cross-country, badminton and basketball also significant. In the spring term the main boys' sports are hockey and football and netball for the girls. In summer, cricket is the major sport, alongside athletics, tennis and swimming for girls'.
